Dennis was born and raised in Massachusetts and at the ripe age of 23 decides to take a vacation. He landed in Eugene, Oregon and has been there ever since over 35 years. Since the age of 10 he played guitar and became very passionate about music during High School and beyond. During the time between High school and 23 years, he played music in a band touring the East coast from Massachusetts to Georgia. The tour was a disaster as several of the band members were shot and injured during this tour.
Returning to his hometown very distraught, being very tired of playing blues and soul music and ever wondering if he could get out of the area, since there were no jazz musicians around he started going to Boston and Hartford Connecticut to check out the jazz clubs, and one night while in Boston, walking by a jazz club on Boylston Street, a door opened and out came this amazing music! He stopped in his tracks, went to the door and listened intently. That night changed Dennis’ music tastes and directions forever. Miles Davis, a famous trumpeter, was playing with an ensemble that was just what he needed to hear. Returning to his home town the next day, he called his band members and told them he was quitting the band because he wanted to play Jazz. He heard Miles Davis, Tony Williams on drums, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea playing keyboards and John McLaughlin on guitar and Miroslav Virtous on bass. And from that day on he played and studied jazz.
Later in life he became interested in musical gear, synthesizers, computers, stereo equipment. He studied Electronics Engineering in college for 2 years and worked for just about every small and large computer store in town. From 1980 to about 1999 he own and operated Inter Media Electronics, a company which not only repaired computers but also repaired and sold Laser printers and he also developed methods for recycling toner cartridges in laser printers and copiers.
Dennis is still very passionate about music especially jazz and Latin Jazz. He teaches guitar with about 25 students per week. These days he runs a website called music lessons on dvd.
